Rain water harvesting is collection and storage of rain water that runs off from roof tops, parks, roads, open grounds, streams etc. This water run off can be either stored or used to recharge bore well & wells by improving strength and quality of resource.

In rural areas, rainwater harvesting is achieved using constructing wells, vented bunds, subsurface bunds, gabions and by constructing wells at appropriate locations.
In urban areas, roof top water or open ground water is collected, filtered and used for borewell recharge.
